The research activity of the theoretical group covers topics such as structural, electronic, magnetic and optical properties of different materials, from oxides to semiconductors to biomolecules, and includes development of new computational techniques and approaches for specific investigations.
The research activity of the experimental group includes synthesis of a large amount of novel materials (semiconductors, semicondutor heterostructures, superconductors, and magnetic materials), which are characterized by several experimental techniques available in the departament. The experimental research addresses the technical challenges that are facing the growth of these materials as well as the understanding of their basic physical phenomena.
