Professor Antônio José Roque da Silva from FMT/IFUSP Receives Award for Contributions to the Sirius Project

Prof. Antônio José Roque da Silva, a professor at FMT/IFUSP and general director of CNPEM, received the Almirante Álvaro Alberto Prize for Science and Technology 2025. He was primarily recognized for leading Sirius, one of the most advanced synchrotron light sources in the world. The award is one of the most important in science in Brazil and includes a diploma, medal, monetary prize, and institutional trips. Other distinguished researchers were also honored in this edition.

Master's Dissertation Defense of Mateus Marques

The Department of Material Physics and Mechanics (FMT/IFUSP) invites everyone to the Master's dissertation defense of Mateus Marques, which will be held at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (IFUSP). Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Luís Gregório Godoy de Vasconcellos Dias da Silva, the project titled "Emergent Symmetries and Topology of Twisted Bilayer Graphene at Magic Angle" will be presented, offering an innovative perspective on this field of physics research.

Successful PhD Defense by João Victor Ferreira Alves

The Department of Material Physics and Mechanics at the Institute of Physics of the University of São Paulo (FMT/IFUSP) is pleased to announce that the PhD thesis defense of João Victor Ferreira Alves was successfully completed. Under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Luís Gregório Godoy de Vasconcellos Dias da Silva, the thesis entitled "RKKY Interaction in Topological Semimetals" was presented on March 24, 2025 (Monday), at 2:00 PM, in the Main Building of IFUSP, Room 2006.
