The assembling of inorganic structures (1D, 2D, 3D) and organic molecules is a convenient route to obtain hybrid materials with interesting physical and functional properties, among them, tunable molecular magnets, flexible porous solids, photonic and multiferroic materials, target-oriented nanostructures for molecular recognition. This talk discusses about the preparation, physical characterization and potential applications of these materials. The examples to be discussed include: 1) intercalation of organic molecules between layers of inorganic nature
to obtain magnetic nanoporous solids; 2) molecular magnets tunable through adsorbed species; 3) superparamagnetic nanoparticles functionalized with organic and biological molecules; 4) flexible metal organic frameworks for small molecules separation and storage.
