PhD Opportunity: Scintillation Imaging & Predictive AI for Real-Time Radiation Protection in Radiotherapy 

 

Are you looking for a PhD position combining radiation physics, artificial intelligence, and cutting-edge medical technology? Join our doctoral research project at the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCK CEN) in Mol, Belgium, together with University of Antwerp (InViLab.UAntwerp and UAntwerpen - CORE)

 

Develop and advance a next-generation intelligent safety system for radiotherapy that uses high-speed scintillation imaging and predictive AI to monitor radiation beams in real time — moving beyond traditional “check-after” approaches toward predicting and preventing errors during treatment delivery. This interdisciplinary research involves experimental physics, advanced AI modelling, fast imaging systems, and close collaboration with medical physicists and clinicians.

Required qualification: Master (or equivalent) in sciences or engineering.
