The Chemical Sciences Division of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, MD, USA, has one vacancy for a skilled XRF spectroscopist. The successful candidate will become a vital part of a large multidisciplinary team that develops and maintains the world-class NIST Standard Reference Material program. The incumbent will sustain and grow the NIST Standard Reference Material (SRM) program for metals and alloys, geological ores and other materials that underpin US industrial manufacturing, and cements. The major duties involve performing X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyses of SRM and other materials using wavelength-dispersive instruments (not microscope-based); preparing reports of analysis; participating in teams for the development of SRMs; and representing NIST on technical committees of ASTM International.
