Bank account

Before opening a bank account in Brazil, it's advisable to consult your scholarship provider, as they might have preferences regarding the bank you choose.

Each Brazilian bank has its own workflow, but to open a bank account you'll typically need:
  • passport;
  • RNM (registration with the Federal Police);
  • proof of address;
  • CPF number;
  • proof of enrollment: a document issued by USP that confirms your enrollment as a student or your affiliation with the university;
  • some banks may also require evidence of sufficient income to maintain the account, such as pay slips or a scholarship declaration.

On campus, at "Praça dos Bancos," you'll find various bank branches including Banco do Brasil, Santander, Bradesco, and Itaú. Their address is Av. Prof. Luciano Gualberto, 660 - Butantã, São Paulo - SP, 05508-010. Additionally, these branches can be used for bill payments (boletos).

In Brazil, bank opening hours typically range from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
