O Prof. Federico Antinori informou que não conseguiu embarcar para o Brasil e, portanto, está cancelando sua viagem! Ele deveria ter embarcado no voo Lisboa-SP ontem de manhã, mas o voo foi cancelado. Como não conseguiram encaixá-lo em outra aeronave até hoje de manhã, ele decidiu cancelar a viagem, pois não conseguiria chegar a tempo para os compromissos marcados em SP.

ABSTRACT:
ALICE is an experiment running at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, designed to study the properties of an extreme state of matter that was present in the first instants of the life of the universe: the Quark-Gluon Plasma. In this state the quarks and gluons that are normally confined inside hadrons, are liberated. This state can be recreated for a very short time as matter is heated and compressed in the collisions of nuclei accelerated in the LHC. After a short introduction, some of the main results of the ALICE experiment will be recalled and the plans for the future will be discussed.
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Federico Antinori, born in Genova (Italy) on 29 August 1963, is a research scientist with the Italian National Institute of Nuclear Physics (INFN) in Padova. He is currently Guest Professor at CERN and the present Spokesperson of ALICE, one of the four experiments at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Physics in the UK and a member of the Italian Physical Society.
