"Organic-inorganic spin interfaces - a new horizon of magnetism"

Abstract:
Molecular spintronics is crucially dependent on the interfaces between organic and inorganic counterparts. In this talk, I will discuss some interfacial properties of spin-bearing organometallic molecules and metallic surfaces, explored by density functional theory and beyond. A detailed discussion will be done regarding a proper electronic structure description of the molecules. Thereafter, some spin-related interfacial phenomena will be discussed, e.g., exchange coupling, spin-dipole moments, spin switching etc. The effects of electron correlation and van der Waals interaction will be highlighted.
