“In-medium properties of the low-lying strange, charm, and bottom baryons in the quarkmeson coupling model”

Abstract:

In-medium properties of the low-lying strange, charm, and bottom baryons in symmetric nuclear matter are studied in the quark-meson coupling (QMC) model. Effective masses of the baryons, potentials felt by the light quarks in the baryons, in-medium bag radii, as well as the in-medium bag eigenvalues are presented by updating using the latest data. This study completes the properties of the low-lying baryons in symmetric nuclear matter including the bottom baryons which contain one bottom quark. We predict that the effective mass of ∑b becomes smaller than that of Ξ b at moderate nuclear matter density, namely, m* Σb < m* Ξ b, although m∑b > m Ξ b in vacuum. We study further the effects of the repulsive vector potentials on the the excitation (total) energies of these bottom baryons, and speculate the possible impact on their production and reactions in dense nuclear medium involving them.
