Title:
Human-caused fire in Brazilian Grassland
Abstract:
Fire is used for deforestation of the Amazon rainforest and is expected to decline with decreasing forest loss since 2005 but maintenance fires on cropland and pasture still endanger the rainforest. Purposes and practices of human-caused grassland fires differ across regions and pasture type (natural or planted). The implementation of the fire management method in the global vegetation model LPJmL will allow a better understanding of impacts on soil, landuse change and climate.
