Conferência debate atualização do marco Legal da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação
O decreto que regulamenta o novo marco de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação, publicado em fevereiro, será tema do encontro A Regulação do Novo Marco de CT&I, no dia 22 de maio, às 10h, com a presença de Álvaro Prata, secretário de Desenvolvimento Tecnológico e Inovação, do Ministério de Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovações e Comunicações (MCTIC). Dentre as alterações estão a introdução de novas regras para a concessão de recursos de subvenções econômicas, regulamentação do bônus tecnológico e facilitação do remanejamento de recursos dentro de projetos de CT&I. A conferência terá transmissão ao vivo pelo site do IEA.

Conference addresses the updating of the Brazilian Legal Framework of Science, Technology and Innovation
The decree that regulates the New Framework of Science, Technology and Innovation in Brazil, published in February, will be the theme of the meeting 'The Regulation of the New Framework of ST&I,' to be held on May 22, at 10.00 am, with the presence of Álvaro Prata, Secretary for Policies, and Research and Development Programs of the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communications (MCTIC). Among the changes to be discussed, there are the introduction of new rules for the granting of economic subsidy resources, the regulation of technological bonuses and the facilitation of the re-allocation of resources within ST&I projects. The conference will be broadcast live on the IEA website.

Questões raciais e de gênero são tema de 3° encontro de ciclo que busca criar pedagogia estética em direitos humanos
A terceira oficina do ciclo Arte, Curta-Metragem e Direitos Humanos, que propõe utilizar a arte para trabalhar a educação em direitos humanos, tratará de questões raciais e de gênero, de forma interseccionada. Tomará como ponto de partida o curta-metragem francês “Liberté- Egalité-Cheveux Lissés”, de Eleftherios Zacharopoulos, que discute o préconceito racial e violência contra a mulher. A oficina acontece no dia 24 de maio, às 9h, com transmissão ao vivo pela web, e é organizada pelo Grupo de Pesquisas Direitos Humanos, Democracia, Política e Memória. Para participar presencialmente é necessário realizar inscrição.

Race and gender issues will be discussed on the third workshop of a cycle that seeks to create aesthetic pedagogy in human rights education
The third workshop of the cycle 'Art, Short Film and Human Rights,' which proposes to use art to work on human rights education, will address race and gender issues in an intersected way. It will take the French short film 'Liberté, égalité, cheveux lissés,' by Eleftherios Zacharopoulos, as a starting point. The film discusses racial prejudice and violence against women. Organized by IEA's Research Group on Human Rights, Democracy, Politics and Memory, the workshop will be held on May 24, at 9.00 am, with a live webcast.

Encontro reúne pesquisas sobre justiça na educação
Seis professores de diversas instituições irão apresentar as conclusões de suas pesquisas sobre justiça na educação. Os trabalhos analisam temas como inclusão, hospitalidade, acolhimento e tensão entre a igualdade e a diferença no ambiente escolar. O seminário Educação e Justiça e as Artes de Fazer o Comum na Escola será no dia 29 de maio, às 9h, no IEA. Organizado pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Direitos Humanos, Democracia, Política e Memória, o evento terá transmissão ao vivo pela web. Para acompanhar presencialmente é necessário realizar inscrição prévia.

Meeting brings together research projects on education and justice
Six professors from various institutions will present the findings of their research on justice in education. The papers analyze themes such as inclusion, hospitality, acceptance, and tension between equality and difference in the school environment. The seminar 'Education and Justice, and the Arts of Doing the Common Things at School' will be held on May 29, at 9.00 am, at the IEA. Organized by the Institute's Research Group on Human Rights, Democracy, Politics and Memory, the event will be broadcast live over the web.

O uso da fotografia, no início do século 20, para caracterizar doenças tropicais será objeto de discussão no encontro Representações Fotográficas de Doenças Tropicais: Ambivalências e Tensões Sociais no dia 24 de maio, às 14h. A expositora será Kelly Ichitani Koide, pós-doutoranda em filosofia pela Faculdade de Filosofia, Letras e Ciências Humanas (FFLCH) da USP, que estuda o tema. O evento é organizado Grupo de Pesquisa História, Filosofia e Sociologia da Ciência e da Tecnologia. Haverá transmissão ao vivo pela web. Para participar presencialmente, é necessário inscrever-se.

Researcher analyzes the effects and contradictions of photographs of tropical diseases
The use of photography to characterize tropical diseases at the beginning of the 20th century will be the subject of the meeting 'Photographic Representations of Tropical Diseases: Ambivalences and Social Tensions' on May 24, at 2.00 pm. The speaker will be Kelly Ichitani Koide, a postdoctoral fellow in philosophy at USP's Faculty of Philosophy, Languages and Literature, and Human Sciences (FFLCH). The event has been organized by IEA's Research Group on History, Philosophy, and Sociology of Science and Technology. There will be a livebroadcast on the web.

O impacto no cenário geopolítico mundial dos avanços bélicos anunciados pela Rússia será tema de um encontro com o jornalista mexicano Lorenzo Carrasco, correspondente da revista "Executive Intelligence Review" (EIR). A conferência O Fator Científico-Tecnológico na Presente Mudança de Época Global: O Caso da Rússiaacontece no IEA no dia 28 de maio, às 9h, com transmissão ao vivo pela web. É necessária inscrição prévia para participação presencial. Para Carrasco, a ascensão do eixo geopolítico eurasiático representa “uma perspectiva singular para a construção de um novo ordenamento mundial”. A organização é do Grupo de Pesquisa Khronos: História da Ciência, Epistemologia e Medicina.

Russia's role in shifting the global geopolitical scenario in depth
The impact of the military advances announced by Russia on the global geopolitical scenario will be the subject of a meeting with Mexican journalist Lorenzo Carrasco, correspondent of the newsmagazine 'Executive Intelligence Review' (EIR). 'The Scientific-Technological Factor in the Present Change of Global Time: the Case of Russia' will take place on May 28, at 9.00 am, at the IEA. For Carrasco, the rise of the Eurasian geopolitics represents "a singular perspective for the construction of a new world order." The event has been organized by IEA's Research Group Khronos: History of Science, Epistemology and Medicine. There will be a livebroadcast on the web.

Nova edição da revista 'Estudos Avançados' tem a política como tema principal
A edição 92 da revista “Estudos Avançados” já está disponível em sua versão impressa. Em dois dossiês, a política é o tema central, incluindo artigos que tratam de: representação política, democracia representativa, fundamentos da sociedade brasileira, políticas públicas, atual fase do capitalismo, uso de recursos públicos e militância por justiça de dois personagens da história, Tiradentes e Luiz Gama. Há ainda artigos sobre ficcionistas e poetas brasileiros, sobre as contradições da pesquisa e da pós-graduação no Brasil e sobre o Mosaico do Gurupi, além de resenhas de livros. A edição é dedicada à memória da vereadora Marielle Franco.

'Estudos Avançados' #92 has politics as main theme
The 92nd issue of the journal 'Estudos Avançados' is already available in its printed version. Present in two dossiers, politics is the central theme, including articles dealing with political representation, representative democracy, the foundations of Brazilian society, public policies, the current phase of capitalism, the use of public resources and justice militancy for two characters in Brazilian history, namely Tiradentes and Luiz Gama. Further articles address Brazilian fiction and poets, contradictions of research and graduate studies in Brazil, and the Gurupi Mosaic - a territory formed by protected areas which include indigenous lands -, as well as book reviews. The issue is dedicated to the memory of councilwoman Marielle Franco, murdered on March 14, in Rio de Janeiro.

IEA publica relatório de atividades de 2017
O IEA publicou recentemente o relatório das atividades realizadas em 2017. A publicação destaca os assuntos mais relevantes e reúne todos os eventos organizados no Instituto no ano passado. Com um formato diferente dos adotados até 2015, o material traz textos inéditos e objetivos, e foca na facilidade de encontrar as informações. No site do IEA é possível acessar também o relatório de 2016, o primeiro da gestão Paulo Saldiva e Ary Plonski, e já com a nova identidade.

IEA publishes activity report for 2017
The IEA has recently published the report on the activities held in 2017. The publication highlights the most relevant issues and brings together all the events held by the Institute last year. With a renewed format, the material has unpublished and objective texts, and focuses on the ease of finding the information. On IEA's website it is also possible to access the report for 2016, the first one from the management of directors Paulo Saldiva and Ary Plonski. The report is available in Portuguese only.
