Laboratory of New Semiconductor Materials
We are looking for undergraduate, master, PhD, and postdoctoral students to carry out research in the experimental areas of infrared photodetectors and solar cells based on quantum dots. The main stages of the projects will be carried out at the LNSM itself and will consist of the growth of the samples by molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), their complete processing by photolithography in a clean room, and the structural, optical and electrical characterization of the devices by atomic force microscopy (AFM), photoluminescence (PL), and Hall effect. Experimental setups for measuring I-V curves, noise, responsivity, photocurrent, external quantum efficiency, as well as a solar simulator, are also available. These devices are currently being intensively investigated as they can be used in strategic fields such as medicine, environment, agriculture, energy, defense, and aerospace engineering.
