Poder, inserção social e política das mulheres serão tema de seminário
As relações de gênero serão tema no seminário Relações de Gênero, Saúde Coletiva e Poder, que abordará “como as relações de poder interferem na inserção social e política de mulheres e como elas logram superar as diferentes formas de manutenção das desigualdades próprias da vida cotidiana”. Organizado pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Políticas Públicas, Territorialidades e Sociedade, o encontro acontece na Sala de Eventos do IEA no dia 19 de outubro, às 14h, com transmissão ao vivo e inscrição prévia para os que desejam assisti-lo presencialmente.

Power, social insertion and politics of women will be theme of seminar
Gender relations will be a topic at the seminar 'Gender Relations, Collective Health and Power', which will address "how power relations interfere in the social and political integration of women, and how they overcome the different ways of maintaining the inequalities of daily life." Organized by IEA's Research Group Public Policies, Territorialities and Society, the meeting will take place in the IEA Events Room on October 19 at 2.00 pm, with live broadcast.

Silviano Santiago fala de "Machado" e impasses da literatura contemporânea
Um dos mais importantes escritores e intelectuais brasileiros da atualidade, Silviano Santiago discutirá no IEA o seu mais recente romance, “Machado” (Companhia das Letras), e os impasses da literatura contemporânea. O encontro Machado de Assis – Aproximações acontece no dia 24, às 9h30, com transmissão ao vivo pela web e inscrição prévia para participação presencial. A organização é de Dária Jaremtchuk, professora da Escola de Artes, Ciências e Humanidades (EACH) e da pós-graduação da ECA-USP. Ela integrou a primeira turma do Programa Ano Sabático do IEA em 2016.

Silviano Santiago speaks of 'Machado' and the impasses of contemporary literature
One of the most important Brazilian writers and intellectuals today, Silviano Santiago will discuss his latest novel, 'Machado' (Companhia das Letras), and the impasses of contemporary literature at the IEA. The meeting 'Machado de Assis - Approaches' will take place on October 24, at 9.30 am, with a live webcast. The organizer is Daria Jaremtchuk, a professor of History of Arts at USP's School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH), and of USP's School of Communications and Arts graduation program. She joined the first edition of the IEA Sabbatical Year Program in 2016.

Experiências de Aracy Amaral e Justo Werlang serão apresentadas na Pinacoteca
A Pinacoteca receberá, em 20 de outubro, às 14h30, o quinto evento sobre dirigentes culturais, que integra o ciclo "Cultura, Institucionalidade e Gestão" da Cátedra Olavo Setubal de Arte, Cultura e Ciência. Neste dia, os convidados são Justo Werlang, gestor da Fundação Iberê Camargo, e Paulo Portella Filho, artista e museólogo que falará sobre Aracy Amaral, ex-diretora da Pinacoteca e do MAC-USP. O evento terá transmissão ao vivo pela web e a participação presencial requer inscrição prévia. No dia 24, às 14h30, inicia-se uma nova fase do ciclo, com a primeira conferência sobre exposições que marcaram a cena cultural brasileira. O crítico e curador Agnaldo Farias falará de Bienais e da mostra “Do Figurativismo ao Abstracionismo”, realizada em 1949 no MAM-SP, com curadoria de Leon Deagand. Este encontro será no IEA, com transmissão ao vivo pela internet.

Experiences by Aracy Amaral and Justo Werlang will be presented at the Pinacoteca
The Pinacoteca will host the fifth event on cultural leaders, which is part of the cycle 'Culture, Institutionality and Management' of the Olavo Setubal Chair on Art, Culture and Science, on October 20, at 2.30 pm. At this meeting, the guests will be Justo Werlang, manager of the Iberê Camargo Foundation, and Paulo Portella Filho, artist and museologist who will talk about Aracy Amaral, former director of the Pinacoteca and MAC-USP. The event will be broadcast live over the web. On the 24th, at 2.30 pm, a new phase of the cycle begins, with the first conference on exhibitions that marked the Brazilian cultural scenario. Critic and curator Agnaldo Farias will s peak of Biennials and the exhibition 'From Figurativism to Abstractionism', held in 1949 at the MAM-SP, curated by Leon Deagand. This meeting will be at the IEA, with live broadcast.

Ciclo sobre conservação e restauração de bens culturais reúne profissionais da área
Acontece no dia 26 de outubro, às 10h, no IEA, o primeiro encontro de um ciclo sobre restauração e conservação de bens culturais. Atuação do Conservador-Restaurador: O Conservador de Museu e o Conservador de Ateliê irá promover a interação entre museólogos, conservadores, restauradores, curadores e cientistas da conservação. Os interessados em participar, devem enviar mensagem para bbm@usp.br até o dia 18. O debate será transmitido ao vivo pela internet, com a possibilidade de enviar comentários e pe rguntas aos integrantes da mesa-redonda. A organização é do Grupo de Pesquisa Fórum Permanente: Sistema Cultural entre o Público e o Privado, do IEA, com apoio da Biblioteca Brasiliana Guita e José Mindlin, da Escola de Comunicações e Artes (ECA) e do Museu Paulista (MP), os três da USP, e do Departamento de Museologia, Conservação e Restauro da Universidade Federal de Pelotas.

Cycle on conservation and restoration of cultural assets brings together professionals from the area
The first meeting of a cycle on the restoration and conservation of cultural assets will take place on October 26, at 10.00 am, at the IEA. 'The Work of a Conservator-Restorer: Museum Conservator and Atelier Conservator' will foster interaction among museologists, conservators, restorers, curators, and conservation scientists. The debate will be transmitted live over the internet, with the possibility for the audience of sending comments and questions to the members of the roundtable. The organization is in charge of IEA's Research Group Fórum Permanente: Cultural System Between Public and Private, with support of the Brasiliana Guita and José Mindlin Library, the Schoo l of Communications and Arts (ECA) and the Museu Paulista (MP), all from USP, and of the Department of Museology, Conservation and Restoration of the Federal University of Pelotas.

Memorial da Resistência recebe exposição de oito artistas sobre a memória das ditaduras na América Latina
Exposição no Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo reunirá oito artistas em um acervo que pretende contribuir para a reflexão sobre a memória das ditaduras na América Latina, com destaque para o Brasil, a Argentina e o Chile. A mostra Hiatus: a Memória da Violência Ditatorial na América Latina ficará em cartaz de 21 de outubro, a partir das 11h, a 12 de março de 2018 e é organizada pelo Grupo de Pesquisa Direitos Humanos, Democracia, Política e Memória; Associação Pinacoteca de Arte e Cultura; e Memorial da Resistência de São Paulo, com apoio do Instituto Goethe e da Pró-Reitoria de Cultura e Extensão Universitária da USP. Após a abertura no dia 21, acontecerá o “Sábado Resistente - A Arte da Memória: Pensando Hoje as Ditaduras da América Latina”, com início às 14h.

Memorial of Resistance hosts exhibition of eight artists on the memory of Latin American dictatorships
An exhibition at the Memorial of Resistance in São Paulo will bring together eight artists in a collection that aims to contribute to the reflection on the memory of Latin American dictatorships, in especially Brazil, Argentina and Chile. The exhibition 'Hiatus: The Memory of Dictatorial Violence in Latin America' will be shown from October 21 to March 12, 2018, and has been organized by IEA's Research Group Human Rights, Democracy, Politics and Memory, in partnership with the Pinacoteca Association of Art and Culture, and the Memorial of Resistance in São Paulo. The Goethe Institute and USP's Dean of Culture and University Extension are supporting the initiative. The opening on the 21st will take place at 11.00 am. Afterwards, at 2.00 pm, there wil l be the 'Resisting Saturday - The art of memory: thinking of the Latin American dictatorships today.'

Encontro discute a arte inspirada na violência da ditadura militar
A conferência Arte como Memória do Mal e Espaço de Ação reunirá artistas e pesquisadores para discutir a relação entre arte e violência, e sobre como apresentar “a dor sem resvalar para o gozo do sofrimento”. Os participantes debaterão o alcance dessa arte crítica e mnemônica, e como os artistas podem se tornar agentes da luta pela memória e pela verdade. O encontro acontece na Sala de Eventos do IEA no dia 23 de outubro, a partir das 10h, com transmissão ao vivo e inscrição prévia para os que desejam assisti-lo presencialmente. A atividade é um desdobramento da exposição Hiatus: A Memória da Violência Ditatorial na América Latina.

Meeting discusses art inspired by the violence of the military dictatorship
The conference 'Art as Memory of Evil and Space of Action' will bring together artists and researchers to discuss the relationship between art and violence, and how to present "pain without slipping into the enjoyment of suffering." The participants will discuss the reach of this critical and mnemonic art, and how artists can become agents of the struggle for memory and truth. The meeting will take place at the IEA Events Room on October 23, starting at 10.00 am with a live broadcast. The activity is an unfolding of the exhibition 'Hiatus: The Memory of Dictatorial Violence in Latin America.'
