- In 1981, Prof. Caldas Received her PhD at the Institute of Physics of University of Sao Paulo (IFUSP). Later performed Post-Doctoral studies at the Solar Energy Reseach Institute (now National Renewable Energy Lab), DOE, USA (1983-1984);
- In 1983 returned to Brazil to became a faculty member at the Institute of Physics UNICAMP;
- Three years later, returned to IFUSP to join the Dept. of Mechanics and Materials Physics. In 2000 became Full Professor;
- Head of Scientific Computing, University Computing Center, USP, (1990-1992);
- CEO for Computers and Networks, University Computing Center, USP, (1994-2000);
- Chair of Dept of Mechanics and Physics of Materials (2010-2014);
- Member of the Semiconductors Committee of the International Union of Pure and Applied Physics (C8-IUPAP) from 1999 to 2005;
- Member of the Board of the Brazilian Physical Society (2004-2007; 2007 - 2011) and of the Brazilian Materials Research Society (2005-2008);
