"Elko and Mass dimension one fermions"

Prof. Dharam Ahluwalia (UNICAMP)

The basic purpose of this talk is to present a in broad brush manner the 2005 unexpected theoretical discovery of mass dimension fermions and some very recent developments. In particular Ill argue as to why the no go theorem that spin 1/2 supports only Dirac, of which Majorana is a special case, field can be circumvented. The construct is straight forward with a range of subtle and hitherto unappreciated aspects. Ill point out some of these which the audience may pursue at their leisure with their own pencil, and paper.

"The Lagrangian for mass dimension one fermions"

Dr. Cheng-Yang Lee (UNICAMP)

The mass dimension one fermionic field associated with Elko satisfies the Klein-Gordon but not the Dirac equation. However, a Klein-Gordon Lagrangian does not provide a satisfactory description of the mass dimension one fermions. In this presentation, I propose a new Lagrangian resolving the last outstanding issues and discuss some of the recent progresses on the theory.
