SELF-ASSEMBLED NANOTUBULAR LAYERED DOUBLE HYDROXIDES WITH TUNABLE PHOTOLUMINESCENCE.

PROF. DANILO MUSTAFA

Tuesday, November 03, 2015

Rare earth doped, nanotubular double layered hydroxides (LDH) could provide significant potential for matching the requirements between molecular and mesoscopic organization of different photon conversion structures and sensitizers. Introduction of a limited fraction of trivalent rare earth
cations (RE3+) in ZnAl LDH for example results in phases with interesting luminescent properties. The possibility to exchange anionic sensitizer molecules directly in the vicinity of RE3+ derived
cationic charge ensures the efficient energy transfer between the rare earth ion and the anionic
molecularr antena.
