Dear Colleagues,

We will be organizing a joint special issue between the Journal of Chemical Information and Modeling (JCIM) and the Journal of Chemical Theory and Computation (JCTC), dedicated to researchers in Latin America. The first Latin American JCIM special issue in 2020 was highly successful, both in terms of both the number of contributions and increased regional visibility. Since then, our community has become more active as JCIM authors, reviewers, EAB&ECB members, which in turn has made JCIM an important venue for publications from Latin America.

For the potential second special issue, we will be collaborating with JCTC to include colleagues developing QM methodologies, and quantum computing. For more information on the scope of JCIM and JCTC, please visit their respective websites.

We hope to gather enough support from the Latin American community to make this special issue a success. The submission deadline for manuscripts is expected to be in Q4 2025. We welcome all types of manuscripts that fit within the scope of JCIM JCTC, including articles, perspectives, viewpoints, reviews, letters, and application notes. All submissions will undergo peer review to ensure they meet the high scientific standards of both Journals. Accepted papers will be published online as soon as possible and included in the next available issue. Once the Virtual Special Issue is complete, all articles will be highlighted in a virtual collection, providing additional exposure.

To move forward with planning, we need to estimate the number of potential contributions across the topical areas of both journals. We kindly ask all prospective authors to send an email to soares@jcim.acs.org with a tentative title, a potential corresponding author, and a brief description of the work at your earliest convenience, preferably before November 30th.

We would much appreciate it if you could share this email with colleagues and your network in Latin America.

We look forward to your support and participation in this effort.

With warm regards,

Thereza A. Soares, JCIM Executive Editor,
Victor Baptista, JCTC Associate Editor
Luciana Capece, Guest Editor
Sergio Pantano, Guest Editor
