Sobre o evento:
It is already well established that Quantum Mechanics is more than just a beautiful theory of Nature. Its several postulates and principles are today used in several everyday instruments and devices, ranging from medical diagnosis via nuclear magnetic resonance imaging, USB flash memory sticks, house and city lightings based on light-emitting diodes, time references in the GNSS positioning, superconducting gravimeters up to high precision time-frequency standards. In particular, the working physics ground of the latter is the quantum superposition principle, one of the fundamental principles of Quantum Mechanics. Moreover, in combination with the projection postulate, specific quantum states of matter can be generated in order to improve the measurement performance of some of them. In this colloquium, we will see practical examples of the application of these principles and postulates.
