Opportunities for Post-Docs

[If you are a new postdoc, please read the "Getting Started" guides , as well as these Google Slides with a summary of what you need to know (thanks to the Physics Institute's International Office)]

The vast majority of our post-doc fellowships are funded by FAPESP. The typical PD fellowship pays a tax-free salary of R$ 12.570,00 (approximately EUR 2.000), plus a grant that you can use for travel and/or computer equipment. You will also receive funds for travel and relocation, to help you move to São Paulo if you are coming from another city or another country.

Unless you are interested in the highly prestigious Young Researcher fellowship (see more below), you will need a supervisor in the DFMA in order to apply. There are two main ways to go:

  • You, together with your supervisor, can apply directly to FAPESP - this can be done at any time.
  • If your supervisor has a grant that comes with PD fellowships, it can be offered to you after a selection process.

You will find instructions on the application procedure for a FAPESP PD fellowship in this link.

Typically, DFMA researchers advertise new positions on the main repositories, but you can also check out the "News and Events" section for the latest announcements. You are also very welcome to reach out to one of our researchers if you would like to explore a post-doc in one of our groups.

Young Researcher (Jovem Pesquisador)

This highly prestigious grant is available for young promising researchers, and besides the PD stipend and benefits, it includes a research budget and scholarships for students. The duration of the grant is 48 months, with the possibility of extending it for an additional 12 months. You can find more information on FAPESP's website, but if you are interested, do reach out to one of our researchers - they will be delighted to tell you more about this grant.
