Editors' Suggestion
The article “Corbino-enhanced supersonic acoustic-emission threshold in a GaAs two-dimensional electron system”, with participation of researchers from the University of São Paulo Physics Institute (IFUSP) and from institutions in Novosibirsk, was selected as an Editors' Suggestion by Physical Review B.
The work investigates nonlinear transport in two-dimensional electron systems (2DES) in GaAs/AlGaAs, using the Corbino geometry, and identifies a signature associated with supersonic acoustic-phonon emission near the internal contact of the device. The results show that the Corbino geometry strongly enhances the local threshold of supersonic acoustic-phonon emission in a high-mobility electron system.
Part of the work was developed during the visit of researcher Aleksandr Jaroshevich to the Department of Materials and Mechanics Physics (DFMT) at IFUSP, between March and May 2026, coordinated by Prof. Dr. Gennady Gusev.
