BALBÚRDIA Journal

The BALBÚRDIA Journal, an electronic publication organized by the students of the Interunit Graduate Program in Sciences Teaching of the University of São Paulo (PIEC-USP), aims to disseminate the scientific production in the Natural Sciences Teaching field. 

BALBÚRDIA aims to strengthen the bonds between the internal and external communities of the university to democratize and disseminate scientific knowledge within the field of educational research through three main actions: teaching, research, and outreach. Outreach activities are at the core of our operations, guiding other activities. Annually, the project hosts workshops on scientific dissemination in Natural Sciences Education to empower new communicators. Additionally, we conduct studies on scientific dissemination and evaluate our own actions, the results of which have been shared in academic events and journals.

The social and educational impact of BALBÚRDIA Journal can be observed across four dimensions:

1. Democratization of the knowledge: By making scientific content available to Basic Education professionals in a simple access manner, this Journal contributes to the education and the development of critical thinking skills, fostering scientific literacy and critical thinking for educational research.

2. Teaching support: This journal is a tool for disseminating educational resources published in academic journals. These resources can help Basic Education professionals to ponder about their practices. 

3. Inclusion and Diversity: All the journal publications have audio descriptions, both on the website and digital journal. Also, it commits to spreading awareness about equity in the field of education, by publishing researches on this topic.

4. Evidence-Based Educational Policy: Through dissemination articles, interviews, and experiential reports, the journal disseminates knowledge produced in universities, making it more accessible and understandable to the non-specialized public. This knowledge assists in mobilizing individuals so that public educational policies are based on the results of scientific research.

 

All these aspects emphasize the importance of the Balbúrdia Journal as a meaningful instrument of social and educational impact that promotes a higher awareness and appreciation of educational science in Brazilian society.
