Antonio José Roque da Silva is a renowned physicist with a robust academic background and a distinguished career. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Physics at UNICAMP and completed his PhD at the University of California at Berkeley in 1994, where he also did postdoctoral work, followed by another postdoc at the University of California at Los Angeles. He is currently a Full Professor at the University of São Paulo and the General Director of CNPEM, as well as a Full Member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and ACIESP. He was awarded the National Order of Scientific Merit in the Commander Class. His scientific output includes over 130 articles in specialized journals, co-authorship in more than 200 conference papers, with his publications having over 5,400 citations and an h-index of 37. He has also published 4 book chapters and 1 book. In the training of new scientists, he has supervised 6 postdoctoral scholars, guided 7 master's theses (and co-supervised 2), and supervised 9 doctoral dissertations (co-supervised 4). His research focuses on Condensed Matter Physics and Atomic and Molecular Physics, with a special interest in computational simulation and calculations of electronic structure and transport properties, particularly in nanostructures.
