Graduated in Physics from the University of Costa Rica (Dec/2001). Master's (Mar/2004) and PhD (Oct/2007) in Physics from the State University of Campinas, in the MTA group of the National Synchrotron Light Laboratory, with a sandwich period at the Technische Universitat Dortmund in Germany. He has been a Doctoral Professor at the USP Physics Institute since Feb/2009 and a Full Professor in the Materials Physics Department of the same institute since Dec/2018. He has experience in experimental condensed matter physics, with an emphasis on quantum materials, working mainly on time-resolved optical spectroscopy and electronic transport. He has been a visiting researcher at several institutions between 2009 and 2024: McGill University (Montreal), GHMFL-CNRS (Grenoble), IBM Research (Zurich), TU (Dortmund), UMich (Michigan), Rice (Houston).
