Graduate Admissions and Research Scholarships

How do I enroll?

There are three categories of students in the graduate courses at IFUSP: regular students (those who produce a master's dissertation or a doctoral thesis and aim for the titles of masters and doctors, eligible for scholarships); special students (who take up to two courses per semester without enrolling in the IF graduate program); and exchange or mobility students (who spend 1 to 2 semesters at the Institute, attending courses and developing a research project while maintaining a connection with another university).

Each of these categories has its own specific admission procedures.

Information about scholarships

Graduate studies in Physics require full-time dedication from students. Most students have their studies financed by scholarships distributed by Brazilian funding agencies such as FAPESP, CNPq, CAPES, CNEN, or international programs like CLAF or TWAS.

FAPESP scholarships are distributed directly to supervisors according to their own criteria and schedules; CNEN scholarships are awarded through calls, usually annually. Part of the CAPES and CNPq scholarships are made available in conjunction with the program's coordinating committee, which allocates the quotas to the students who rank best in the graduate selection process. The number of available scholarships varies from semester to semester.
