He holds a Bachelor's and a Teaching Degree in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1983), a Master's in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1986), a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of São Paulo (1991), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratoire Louis Néel-CNRS in Grenoble, France (1991 to 1993). He has experience in the field of Physics, with an emphasis on Magnetic Materials and Magnetic and Magneto-optical Properties of materials, focusing mainly on the following topics: magnetism; thin films, multilayers, and nanoparticles; soft magnetic materials and high anisotropy; near-field magneto-optics and surface plasmons. His retirement was published in the Official Gazette (Diário Oficial) on September 21, 2026, and he is awaiting reclassification as a Senior Professor.
