Opportunity Summary

The Institute of Physics at USP is offering a **24-month FAPESP postdoctoral fellowship**, with the possibility of an extension and a Research Internship Abroad (BEPE). The research will focus on the spectroscopy of rare-earth ions, particularly on the adsorption and release of intercalated molecules in Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs).

Project Objectives

  • Apply the Judd-Ofelt theory to analyze the spectroscopic behavior of rare-earth ions in different environments.
  • Synthesize Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) with intercalated molecules, investigating structural evolution during material formation.
  • Conduct ex situ and in situ measurements to monitor the adsorption and release of intercalated molecules and to gather evidence on the synthesis process.

Expected Skills

  • Ph.D. in Physics or Chemistry.
  • Experience in sample preparation using chemical methods and characterization techniques, such as X-ray diffraction, photoluminescence, and CHN analysis.
  • Proficiency in academic writing in English, with responsibilities including manuscript and research proposal preparation.

Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a monthly scholarship of R\$ 12,570.00, in addition to a technical reserve equal to 10% of the annual scholarship value, intended to cover research-related expenses.

The opportunity is open to both Brazilian and international candidates.
